Having employed a number of Landscape designers in the last twenty years on both big and small projects, I recommend Grandin and McIntyre by far the most frequently and enthusiastically. Their ability to combine enduring beauty and practicality are exceptional.
Tracie brings the rare combination of design skill, creativity, pragmatism and relational ease to every project. In my own garden she enabled us to re-use a number of existing materials (for a substantive savings) such as stones, fencing and large plants, but to do so in an entirely new and appealing manner. She took challenging areas of deep shade and neighbors' eyesores and transformed them into highlights in the new garden. Her elegant sense of scale and color is reflected in all her work, as is her knowledge of which plants thrive in which places. She has shown equal skill and artistic ability on large (and deer-ridden) sites in the Gulf Islands as on gems in urban Vancouver.
Tracie is fun and easy to work with. She is unfailingly quick to respond to questions and concerns. She takes budgets and timelines very seriously - and works skillfully within both. Her own fees are always reasonable.
Paul Grandin's amazing landscape installation skills and expertise are a fantastic addition - from rock work to lighting to bed layout are a great bonus; his solutions to site challenges are often brilliant - and impressively simple.
